對population的試題,應(yīng)注意以下幾點(diǎn)： 
1. 其前不能用數(shù)詞修飾,也不能與many, few之類的詞連用,指人口“多、少”用large, small；表示“某地?fù)碛卸嗌偃丝凇?一般用“have a population of+基數(shù)詞”. 
The population of this city is very large. 
中國現(xiàn)有13多億人口. 
China has a population of more than thirteen hundred million now. 
2. 問某地的人口數(shù),通常用what 或how large.

3. population指“人口”總稱,是集合名詞,常用單數(shù).作主語,其謂語動詞可以用單數(shù),側(cè)重整體；也可用復(fù)數(shù),側(cè)重個體. 
 Half the world’s population doesn’t get enough to eat. 世界有一半人口沒有足夠的食物吃. 
 One third of the population here are workers.這里三分之一的人是工人.（指不同的地區(qū)、時期、民族的人口時,可用復(fù)數(shù)形式.
