1、這是個介詞引導的【賓語從句】
except that...是個特殊用法
有時候except,but,besides三個介詞后可見到that引導的賓語從句 　　
I know nothing about my new neighbor except that he used to work with a company. 　　
對于我的新鄰居我只知道他曾在一家公司上班,其他一無所知.
that引導的從句類型：
1)that引導的主語從句
that引導的主語從句既可以放在句首也可以放在句末,在實際應用中常常采用it形式主語的形式.
如：That he failed thetest is true. 他確實沒有通過考試.
=It is true that he failed thetest.（that引導的句子在復合句中充當主句的主語）
2)that引導的賓語從句
that常用來引導賓語從句,在從句中不擔當成分,通常that可以省略.
如：
He has told me that he will get married tomorrow. 他已經(jīng)告訴我他明天就要結婚了.
that一般跟在實以動詞后,某些介詞也可以用來引導賓語從句.
3)that引導的表語從句
基本結構：主語 + 系動詞 + that從句
如：The fact is that we have lost the game.事實是我們已經(jīng)輸了這場比賽.
that引導的句子在復合句中,充當主句的表語.
4)同位語從句通常由that引導,that不能省略
如：The news that we won the game is exciting.我們贏得這場比賽的消息令人激動.
that后引導的句子,說的是news的內(nèi)容,二者互為同位關系,沒有隸屬的主從關系.
5)用that引導定語從句的情況
that在從句中是關系代詞,在不定代詞,如：anything, nothing, something, the one, all, much, few, any, little等作先行詞時,引導詞只用that,不用which.
如：There is nothing that we can use.
這里沒什么我們可用的東西.
