In my opinion,severe punishment can solve the problem of crime in some ways.
First,I always take it for granted that the criminals should receive tough punishment.Just as students who have disobeyed the rules of the school will receive certain punishment.The person who has broken the law should also be punished.
Secondly,I think severe punishment can warn people not to break the law.If the criminal justice system of a country is powerful,most people in the country dare not commit crimes,the people who have been punished once dare not offend for the second time.Then the crime rate will decline and the social environment will be safer.
Thirdly,I think severe punishment can make the law and justice system more convincing .The citizens of the country will trust the law more.
In a word,I think it is essential for the government to get tough with criminals.Though it will cost the government a lot of money,it can benefit the society in the long run.I suggest that the government should spend less money on some less important fields and invest more money in solving the crime problem.The reduction of the crime rate will bring about stability of the country,which will make the country develop more quickly and firmly.So it's worth spending more money on solving the crime problem first
