Nowadays,every one of us has been confronted with too many instances of dishonesty either through the mass media or in daily life.Students cheat in examinations to obtain high scores.Accountants make up false data to win trust and respect from stockholders.Even scientists copy others’ articles or inventions to seize money or fame.We can’t help asking ourselves:What is wrong with our society?Is honesty going out of style?
Honesty should and would never go out of style.For any individual,honesty is the prerequisite for him to be respectable and successful in the society.On the one hand,those who view integrity as the most important virtue and put it into practice will be rewarded in the long run.They will later find out that it is honesty that puts meaning into his life.On the other hand,those who desert honesty for immediate profits will sooner or later be found out cheating and labeled as dishonest,and people will never believe them any longer.
All that has been discussed above points out an undeniable fact that it pays to be honest.Honesty has long been and will always be a national virtue,which all of us should learn by heart and practice with extreme care,because “honesty is the best policy”.
