有很大爭(zhēng)議的關(guān)于"a quantity of" 和"quantities of"的主謂一致的問(wèn)題,關(guān)于 a quantity of /quantities of + n.+謂語(yǔ) 中的謂語(yǔ)的單復(fù)數(shù)形式說(shuō)法有三：
A.a quantity of /quantities of + n.+謂語(yǔ),其中謂語(yǔ)的單復(fù)數(shù)形式與quantity的單復(fù)數(shù)形式保持一致,eg:
Quantities of nuts were on the table.
A quantity of nuts was on the table.
B.對(duì)于a quantity of + n.+謂語(yǔ) 中的謂語(yǔ)的單復(fù)數(shù)形式與a lot of 相同,即遵循意義一致原則；
而對(duì)于quantities of + n.+謂語(yǔ) 中的謂語(yǔ)一定用復(fù)數(shù)形式,eg:
There is only a small quantity of wine left.
A large quantity of air conditions have been sold since the summer came.
Huge quantities of oil were shipped to Japan last year.
C.a quantity of /quantities of + n.+謂語(yǔ) 中的謂語(yǔ)的單復(fù)數(shù)形式與a lot of/lots of 相同,即遵循意義一致原則.eg:
Great quantities of sand was washed down the hillside by the rain last night.
