fruit既可以做可數(shù)名詞,也可以做不可數(shù)名詞.

做可數(shù)名詞,是在強調(diào)有多種水果時用；如：banana and other tropical fruits 香蕉和其它熱帶水果,There are kiwis , grapes,  Durian and many other unknown exotic fruits on the table. 桌子上放著獼猴桃、提子、榴蓮和許多叫不上名兒的外來水果.

做不可數(shù)名詞,是將水果作為一個集合名詞,一個大類來看待,不特指哪一個,也不區(qū)分其中不同的品種；如：Fresh fruit and vegetables provide fibre and vitamins. Apple and pear are all fruit.

vegetable是可數(shù)名詞,但是指蔬菜時,不用a vegetable；如：不能說Is potato 【a】 vegetable? 應(yīng)該是Is potato vegetable?

a vegetable 的意思一般是指“植物人”
