我在北京已經(jīng)過了四個(gè)新年.據(jù)我觀察這四年來社會(huì)上一切情狀,不但沒有什么更動(dòng),更沒有一點(diǎn)進(jìn)步,只是些裝神弄鬼的玩意兒,偏比以前鬧得格外利害.無論在茶棚,酒店,甚至于外國式的飯店,達(dá)官貴人的客廳,總可以聽見什么扶乩呵,預(yù)言呵,望氣呵,算命呵,種種怪話.親友見面的時(shí)候,說話往往帶些鬼氣.我也不知道他們真是活見鬼呢?還是哄著小孩子玩呢?這姑且不提.就是這次,陰歷的年關(guān),辟歷澎拍的聲音——迎神降福的爆竹足足鬧了十幾天,比往年熱鬧的多.這也可見得崇祀鬼神的心理,始終不變.我看見一般人講鬼話,比講人話還高興；實(shí)在有點(diǎn)替他們難受.隨便就做了這篇很短的文章.
