當(dāng)but/except解釋為“除了”時(shí),如果后面跟上動(dòng)詞,有兩種情況,一種是用to +動(dòng)詞原形,另一種就是直接跟上動(dòng)詞原形.判定原則是這樣的：
當(dāng)but/except前有動(dòng)詞do這個(gè)詞的任何一種形式的時(shí)候,在but/except后不加to,直接跟上動(dòng)詞原形；
當(dāng)but/except前沒有do這個(gè)詞的時(shí)候,那么后面就要用to+動(dòng)詞原形.
如：He could do nothing but wait.
He had nothing to do but wait.
He had no choice but to wait.
另外,還有幾個(gè)常用的短語也要記住：
can't but do; can't hlep but do 這兩個(gè)短語都解釋為“不得不做……
can't help doing 情不自禁做……；忍不住做……
can't hlep to do 不能幫助做某事
如：She can't help to clean the room because she's busy making a cake.
While shopping,people sometimes can't help being persuaded into buying something they don't really need.
