other 表示“另一個或另一些”是泛指,當形容詞或代詞用
the other與other同義,是特指
如：
I have two pens.One is red and the other is green.
the other 是特指的另外一個
other 是除自己外的“別人”
others是其他人,一般是3個或以上
other 表示“其他的”或者“另一些”
是形容詞 后面加名詞 如果是可數(shù)多用復數(shù) some children like apples,other children like bananas.

表示范圍內(nèi)的另一個（范圍內(nèi)一共兩個）
we have two hands.one is on the left,the other is on the right.
other后既可接可數(shù)名詞復數(shù)形式又可接不可數(shù)名詞,如：可數(shù),other pencils 其它的鉛筆,other students 其他的學生.不可數(shù)other tea 別的/其它的茶,other information 別的/其它消息.
the other 定指其它的……,其后可接可數(shù)名詞和單數(shù),如：
the other book 另外的一本書,
the other map 另一張地圖,
其后也可跟可數(shù)名詞的復數(shù)形式,如：
the other flowers 其他的花朵,the other teachers 其它的老師們,還可以接不可數(shù)名詞,如：the other water 剩下的水,the other beer 別的啤酒
others 其用法相當于復數(shù)名詞,此詞不能用作定語,表示的意思是“不具體的某些東西”,如：
This chemical is poisonous .Others are poisonous ,too .( others = other chemicals )
但是如果others前用了the ,則表示具體的別的東西.如：
I don’t want these books .Please give me the others .( the others = the other books
