關(guān)系代詞（relative pronouns)
1.關(guān)系代詞同時起兩個作用.像其它代詞一樣,它們用作動詞的主語或賓語；同時像連詞一樣,它把從句與主句連接起來.
What's the name of the blonde girl?She just came in.
What's the name of the blonde girl who just came in?
在第二句中who代替she成為came的主語,同時把兩個句子連接成一句.
2.最常用的關(guān)系代詞是who,whom,which及that.who和whom用來指人；which用來指物.
I don't like people who lose their tempers easily.
Mexico City,which has a population of over 10 million,is probably the fastest growing city in the world.
3.whom（作動詞或介詞的賓語）的情況很特殊,告別在英語會話中,一般省去,或用who,that代替.在以介詞結(jié)尾的從句中幾乎不能用whom.試比較：
I think you should stay faithful to the person you're married to.[/]
(or:...the person who/that you're married to.) (會話體）
Do you think one should stay faithful to to the person to whom one is married?(正式文體）
4.that往往（但不總是）用來代替whom或which,更經(jīng)常是代替who.
Trumpet's the instrument that really excites me.
She's the only person that understands me.
5.在指時間或地點的名詞后面,when和where可用來表達(dá)at which或in which的意思.在reason這個詞后面,why用來表達(dá)for which的意思.
Can you suggest a time when it will be convenient to meet?
I know a wood where you can find wild strawberries.
Is there any reason why you should have a holiday?
6.whose是一個表示所屬關(guān)系的關(guān)系詞.
This is Henry,whose wife works for my brother-in-law.
