The ostrich is the giant of the bird world.It is the largest living bird world.It can not fly,but it can run really fast!A large one can be three hundred pounds and eight feet tall,but almost half of the height is neck.
鴕鳥是鳥類世界的巨人.它是世界上現(xiàn)存體型最大的鳥.它不能飛,但的確能跑得很快.一只大的鴕鳥可達(dá)300鎊重,八英尺高,但幾乎一半的身高被頸部占據(jù).
A large ostrich sometimes takes a big step --- 25 feet long!It can do a short burst up to 43 miles per hour.And it can keep a speed at 31 miles per hour.It can run faster than most horses.

When an ostrich runs,it spreads its wings out to keep balance.Its wings are too small to fly.Some people think that a long time ago ostriches had strong wings and could fly,but they stopped flying so that their wings got smaller and smaller.However,lions always lived near ostriches,so they began to run in order not to be killed by lions.
