A man named John McConnel from the United States started Earth Day in 1970 .In the beginning ,it was held on one day in spring when the day and night are of the same length（長度）around the world .Now it’s celebrated on April 22.Earth Day is now celebrated all over the world .
Earth Day is a very special day .It makes all of us think about problems we make for the earth .It’s not only a special day in the city where we live ,but a day that the whole world celebrates .
Some countries have Earth Day celebrations ,and some people and groups join in Earth Day projects such as “Protect Our Home ”and “Water for Life”.

Why do we celebrate Earth Day Because we have only one earth and it’s our only home .It’s getting very dirty .It’s our duty to protect our beautiful home .Earth Day is a day to call on people around to save our earth.
