I was transported to some occasions in Mexico where socially responsible citizens from all walks of life come together and try to map pathways into our future.We sometimes wonder if there would be any conversations like that going on in other parts of the world.Without knowing it for sure,we get a shared sense of possibility,that yes there could be and in South Africa I have just confirmed this.
But being in South Africa opens my mind and heart very powerfully to the many similarities of the challenges that Latin America and Africa face.Here I am,experiencing in my day to day this wonderful sensation of the “one-world” we live in.
I often find myself thinking of the power of the encounters in the Voyage of Dialogue and Discovery under way.We may not oversee the impact that all the encounters could have at the moment when they happen.But when people get together,there is so much going on beyond our eyes,beyond what one sometimes can realize.And it made think about what happened when hearts and minds connect.To think about what the result could be if that sort of connections remains gives me a very tangible feeling of hope for the world.
Though I cannot predict the future,I get a hunch that when initiatives like this take place,coming from genuine hearts,sharing and expressing becomes part of creating and change is on its way to happen.
I can see the power of having a visiting team to other countries,and saw much power in encountering others while very simply sharing the message of IofC as that night Nombulelo did when introducing the evening,and when Rajmohan with an amazingly simple way of bringing out a concept of connectivity,did.
Peak moments are easy to get when one becomes open to be touched by South Africans for the opportunity to witness how they are starting walk together…
