What do you want most in a friend—someone who is intelligent,or someone who has a sense of humor,or someone who is reliable?Which one of these characteristics is most important to you?Use reasons and specific examples to explain your choice.
When it comes to the qualities of good friends,there are always a host of different opinions held by different people,and almost
everyone will think of a couple of good characteristics such as honesty,a sense of humor,and reliability.Among all the qualities,I choose honesty as the most important.
First,an honest friend will never betray me.Common sense tells us that an honest man are often a loyal man.I do not like the friends who always tell my stories behind my back.On the contrary,I like the ones who always stand by my side whenever I am in
trouble.I hope that we can be good friends both in sunshine and in shade.As a saying that goes,a friend in need is a friend indeed.We share the happiness together when one of us achieves success; also,we overcome difficulties when one of us is
trapped in adversity.We will not forget each other whenever and wherever.Second,an honest friend can help me to make progress.Many mistakes are often not easy to be found out by ourselves.Although someone else may observe the deficiencies existing in our personality or in our behavior,they may not tell us since nobody wants to offend others by telling some bad news.However,an honest friend is always brave enough to tell us our shortcomings,since
they are never afraid of being hated when revealing his/her friends' disadvantages.It is said that good medicine always tastes
bitter,and honest friends may seem not as friendly as thoes who always praise us to our face,but they are in fact the very persons who help us to progress every day.
Honesty is certainly an indispensable quality of good friends,while other qualities can make a friend even better.For example,
friends with a good sense of humor can always make us happy and help us to forget the sorrows in everyday life.What's more,an
intelligent friend can often come up with good ideas and can help us to solve a lot of difficult problems both in study and in life.
All that I have said above boil down to the conclusion that when we are choosing a friend,the most important factor we should consider is honesty,and some other qualities should also be taken into account.
