Hong Kong and Singapore have seen some of the biggest falls in office rents in the world,let alone Asia,as the two cities have quickly reflected the decline in trade caused by the financial crisis.But rents appear to be stabilising in Asia,and prices of office buildings are already rising once again.
With downsizing and cost-cutting the order of the day in the first part of this year,office vacancies in Hong Kong started to rise,and rents fell.That was particularly true in the first three months of this year,when Lunar New Year also tends to disrupt the leasing process.
Multinationals in Singapore and Hong Kong felt the impact of the financial crisis directly,either because they are banks or because they work closely with them.
