Sometimes we think that is an easy job,but in fact we would feel nervous since we need to communicate with a stranger in another language.When I talked to a foreigner at the first time,all I can say is "how are you" and "hello" some easy expressions,but in fact people can do much better as we have practice many times before.
It would be easier to chat with people with the same mother tongue.At least we can avoid the situation that we would feel embarrased if we make grammar or pronounciation mistakes during our English converstation.Sometimes we make Chinese pronounciation mistakes for fun.We can express our feeling and communicate with a stranger without any barriers.
