from South Africa. Two men took the parcel into the Customs House after the arrival of the plane. Two detectives opened it. The parcel was full of stones and sand.

lesson 8 The best and the worst
Joe Sanders has the best garden in town .He wins 'The Nicest Garden Competition' each year .Bill Frith also has a fine garden. Joe's is better. The writer 's garden is terrible .He always wins a prize for the worst garden in the town.
lesson 9 A cold welcome
We went to theTown Hall on New Year's Eve .There were a lot of people there .The Town Hall clock would strike twelve in twenty minutes's time .It stopped at five to twelve .It refused to welcome the New Year .Then the crowd began to laugh and sing .

lesson 10 Not for jazz
we own an old clavichord.It was made in Germany in 1681.My grangfather bought the instrument many years ago.Recently a visitor damaged it .She tired to play jazz on it !She broke two of the strings .A friend of my father's is repairing it now.
