關(guān)于年的由來,還有一個傳說.相傳在遠(yuǎn)古時候,我們的祖先曾遭受一種最兇猛的野獸的威脅.這種猛獸叫"年",它捕百獸為食,到了冬天,山中食物缺乏時,還會闖入村莊,獵食人和牲畜,百姓惶惶不可終日.人和"年"斗爭了很多年,人們發(fā)現(xiàn),年怕三種東西,紅顏色、火光、響聲.于是在冬天人們在自家門上掛上紅顏色的桃木板,門口燒火堆,夜里通宵不睡,敲敲打打.這天夜里,"年"闖進(jìn)村莊,見到家家有紅色和火光,聽見震天的響聲,嚇得跑回深山,再也不敢出來.夜過去了,人們互相祝賀道喜,大家張燈結(jié)彩,飲酒擺宴,慶祝勝利.
為了紀(jì)念這次勝利,以后每到冬天的這個時間,家家戶戶都貼紅紙對聯(lián)在門上,電燈籠,敲鑼打鼓,燃放鞭炮煙花；夜里,通宵守夜；第二天,大清早互相祝賀道喜.這樣一代一代流傳下來,就成了"過年".
