Thesis: Is Paia a better choice for Luba than Lachance?
Paia is a better choice for Luba than Lanchance.Luba is the only girl of Dominescu family,she is one of the main characters in the novel “Foreigners”. After Dominescu family going through the hard time in Cancadajust immigrated,Luba becomes more matured andattractive . Paia Manescu and Lachance are two boys who fall in love with this young lady and they compete with each other to win her heart. Although the blue eyed boy, Lachance is seems to be more attractive to Luba but Paia’s love for Luba has lasted for a long time.Paia’s family and Dominescu’family have more relationship that they totally suport their get marry.Also Paia and Luba have more things in common to improve their emotional life,identical language and culture.In the novel,Paia is a careful boy and in future he can be both a nice son and good husband to help Dominescu family to get out of trouble.
In the novel,there a lots of elements shows Paia is the choice or Lubam.Paia makes better for Luba because their have been really good friends alreayd since they were in their old country Romanaia.In these two families,“It had always seemed clear to everyone that Luba would marry Paia” (P155)therefore their parents are already affirm Luba will marry with Paia. As soon as the second time Lachance visits the Domincescu to make up to Luba, Stefan along with Luba purposely visits Paia’s family to tell them that it is necessary for Paia to propose to Luba if he wants to marry her. This shows Luba’s parents wish daughter to choose Paia instead of Lachance and there is no doubt that a life of marriage with parents’ blessing and full support will be happier. In addition, for Luba herself, she has known Paia since they were little children and “he had cared her for such a long time” (P158).However Paia lovesand caresher long time,His love is obviously more reliable and sincere.Lanchance is a nice person too,Luba makes choice because Lachance is a new boy in her life he is new exciting so that Luba thoughts he is another choice.Luba need a careful husband to help Dominnescu family to get out of trouble not is more away with her family and have different life,so Paia is better than Lachance.
To sump up,Paia is a best choice for Luba.He helps Stefen’s family solve problems,farm sheep to going through hard time.Also their parents agree with Paia and Luba marry is significant.Paia and Luba have more things in common,between couple need something to build realationship like same language and culture,Paia is just a boy she knows from school only a few months ago. Compared with Lachance’s unfamiliar and sudden affection, Paia’s love is obviously more reliable and sincere.However Paia will be a nice husband for Luba and Dominescu’s family,he can do morething than Lachance.
