no more 和 not any more 可以做賓語,no longer 不可以
No longer意思是“不再”,其確切含意為某狀態(tài)在某個時刻之后不再繼續(xù)下去了.所以,當你從學校畢業(yè)了,就可以說：I'm no longer a student.我不再是個學生了.
有兩個短語和no longer同義,即not…any longer和not…any more,但他們側重的方面不同.前者側重時間,比如：
He no longer lives here.= He doesn't live here any longer.
他不在這兒居住了.(一個時間以前他住在這兒,過了這個時間,他就離開了.)
后者側重程度和數(shù)量,比如：
You can drink no more.= You can't drink any more.
你不能再喝了.(喝酒的量到了一定程度,不能再繼續(xù)下去了.)
要注意的是：由于no longer本身就帶有否定的含義,即表示“再也不”,所以不能在同一個句子中加入否定詞,比如：
I'll come here no longer.我再也不來了.
