Should the creation of a perfect human be the goal of humanity
Although is very tempting to use the bio-technology we have to creat a 'perfect' human,it is shortsighted and dangerous.Application of technology should have boundary and goal of humanity cannot be about creating a perfect human.
The first question to ask is what 'perfect' means and who should have the authority to set the standard.Such concept requires careful ethical scrutiny.Otherwise it could become a slippery slope toward eugenics or even genocide.
The most convincing arguement to make genetic improvement is the health and humanitarian benefit.The supporters of this argument say that if we can make perfect humans,we can reduce suffering from diseases or illness.It could be shortsighted in the sense that the long-term consequence of certain techniques would not be known until it is too late.Serious side-effects that would not surface until 10 or 20 years or even longer time frame could result no a perfect human but threat of existance of humanity as we know it.
