一 assure
▲assure用來(lái)表示向某人保證某事將要發(fā)生，既可以用來(lái)確證某事，也可以表示使某人確信（If you ASSURE a person of something，you promise them or tell them that）。assure的賓語(yǔ)通常是人或人稱代詞，所以不能搭用that － clause。其常用結(jié)構(gòu)為：assuresb．ofsth．／as-。
①He assured us of his ability to solve the problem．他向我們保有能力解決這個(gè)問(wèn)題。
②We booked early to assure ourselves of（getting）good seats．我們及早訂座以保證我們能得到好座位。
▲assure后還可跟抽象名詞作賓語(yǔ)，此時(shí)與ensure同義，表示確保。
①Weeks of practice assured ／ensured success in the match．幾個(gè)星期的訓(xùn)練確保了在比賽中獲得成功。
②Nothing can assure permanent peace．沒(méi)有什么能確保永久和平。

▲ensure的意思是使某行為或某件事的結(jié)果得以保證，即確保某事發(fā)生（to make sure that sth．happens）。ensure后可以直接跟 that-clause，并可以用復(fù)合賓語(yǔ)。常用結(jié)構(gòu)為：ensure sth．／ensure ＋that －clause ／en-sure ＋obj．（i）＋obj．（d）
①To ensure the child's quick recovery，the doctor gave him an antibiotic．為使這個(gè)孩子盡快恢復(fù)，醫(yī)生給他打了一劑抗生素。
②Registration ensures delivery of mail．掛號(hào)寄郵件保證會(huì)送到。
