英語的從句是“像句子的句子成分”.賓語像句子就是賓語從句,定語像句子就是定語從句.例如：
That he is a foreigner is a fact.(That he is a foreigner )是主語從句
He said that he has been to Japan.(that has been to Japan)是賓語從句
The fact is that he is a foreigner.(that he is a foreigner )是表語從句
The news that he is dead is true.(that he is dead )是同位語從句
（注：名詞性從句包括上述四種：主語從句、賓語從句、表語從句和同位語從句）
The news that he told me is true.(that he told me)是定語從句
When the teacher came into the classroom,the children stopped talking.(When the teacher came into the classroom)是狀語從句
