Popularly speaking,intelligence is an agile mind.Intelligence,capacity ,wisdom,though they are in different spelling forms,yet refers to the same thing—the smartness and capacity to learn.From psychological view,intelligence is the level of a man to recognize and do things.Therefore,intelligence is composed of the ability of observation,memorization,analysis,imagination and operation.
Intelligence is the most basic psychological condition for a man to live,study and work,the psychological assurance of keeping dynamic balance of natural environment and social circumstance.Thus intelligence is one of the most important standards of evaluating a man’s psychological health condition.
Generally speaking,ones that with extraordinary intelligence and that of low intelligence just take a small fraction.
Intelligence of most people is ordinary.Extraordinary intelligence refers to that the intelligence is above the average level of the ordinary.And extraordinary intelligence can be divided into two types,one type is that the intelligence is the intelligence is all-sided extraordinary,and the other refers to extraordinary ability at some particular aspect,e.g.maths,technology,language,music,art etc.,they show an extraordinary capacity.In the group of extraordinary intelligence the former type takes only a very small fraction compared to the latter one.Extraordinary intelligence and ordinary one usually belong to the scope of normal intelligence,both of which meet the basic demands of being psychologically healthy.In other words,the intelligence of most people meets the intellectual standards of being psychologically healthy.Low intelligence belongs to the abnormal scope,which can’t meet the intellectual standards of being psychologically healthy.Although those who are of low intelligence are just a small fraction in the public,their psychological illness will bring about big burden to family and society.
IQ tests carried out by foreign psychologist are usually to measure the level of intellectual development.Generally,it is considered low intelligence when the IQ is below 60.In daily life,there are two ways to judge whether someone is of normal intelligence.One is to his/her intelligence with that of a peer’s,the other is to see if he/she can adapt to daily life,study and work.One whose intellectual level falls far behind the others or can’t adapt to daily life,study or work should be further diagnosed to make sure if he/she is of normal intelligence or not.
