at the weekend 強調(diào)的是一個具體的時間,在具體的時間點前用at,是它的一般用法.如：
I don't work at the weekend.
我周末不工作.
但如果強調(diào)的是一個特定的周末,就不能用at而要改為on.
如：Jack was killed on the weekend of May Ist,1987.
吉克被殺死在1987年5月1日的周末.
這個原則也適用于其它的時間介詞.如：
On a cold morning,I opened the window and was glad to find that it was snowing outside.
在這個句子中就不能用“in”了,因為它是一個特定的早晨.
所以on the weekend和at the weekend是不能劃等號的.
