The limits of animation as compared to live-action become very apparent when you desire to show a vehicle traveling along a road.The live camera can position itself wherever it is needed alongside or in the car and the background will recede into the distance as it does in real life.In animation,to get the same illusion you would have to animate the background and,indeed,this is a tchnique that can be used,although at quite a sacrifice.
But there are several other ways to show a vehicle in motion.The most basic is having a car on a repeat pan background on a setup like this car can also GAIN IN on the pan,or GAIN OUT,or can slowly PAN through the scene.
