Long ago,in Egypt there lived a famous person named Zun-Nun.A young man came to visit him and asked,"Teacher,I do not understand why people like you dress in such a simple way.Isn’t it necessary to dress well?"
Zun-Nun smiled and took his ring from one of his fingers,and said,"Young friend,I will answer your question,but first take this ring to the market.Can you sell it for one chip of gold?"
The young man looked at Zun-Nun’s dirty ring and said,"I am not sure this ring could be sold at that price." "Try first,"Zun-Nun said.
The young man went to the market and showed the ring to many people.The fact was that nobody wanted to pay a chip of gold.He went back to Zun-Nun and reported,"Teacher,nobody wants it at that price."
Zun-Nun smiled to him and said,"Now go to the gold shop and show this ring to the owner.Don’t give a price and just listen how much he will pay for this ring."
The young man returned with a smile.He then reported,"Teacher,the owner offered one thousand chips of gold for this ring."
Zun-Nun said in a smile,"That is the answer to your question —someone cannot be valued only by what they wear,but the people in the market give value in that way."
