in the front of 是指某物(或某整體)內(nèi)部的前部;
in front of指某物(或某整體)外部的前面.
也就是:一個(gè)是"內(nèi)部",一個(gè)是"外部";一個(gè)是"前部",一個(gè)是"前面".

比如:The platform is in the front of the classroom.講臺在教室(內(nèi))的前部(講臺本身就在教室內(nèi)部);
