Thanksgiving Day is always celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November.It is the most traditional of American holidays.The first Thanksgiving was held in Massachusetts in 1621.The Pilgrim colonists had a hard first year in the New World:they built homes in the wilderness; they opened fields to produce corn,fruits and vegetables; and they managed to keep peace with their Indian neighbors.They thought it was God who helped them beat the odds and raise enough to keep the alive during the long cold winter.So they wanted to give thanks to God for their first harvest.
