certificate（動(dòng)詞） ：1、an official document proving that you have completed a course of study or passed an exam; a qualification obtained after a course of study or an exam.頒發(fā)結(jié)業(yè)證書.
2、 an official document that may be used to prove that the facts it states are true.證明、證明書.
certify（動(dòng)詞）：1、[usually passive]to give sb an official document proving that they are qualified to work in a particular profession.(通常用于被動(dòng)語態(tài)）頒發(fā)或授予專業(yè)合格證書.2、 to state officially,especially in writing,that sth is true.證明、證明書.
就證明而言,二者同義.就頒發(fā)證書而言,某人有資格有能力從事某項(xiàng)職業(yè)時(shí)才能用certify.而如果他只是完成了學(xué)習(xí)或培訓(xùn)任務(wù),就只能用certificate .
certificate 也可用作名詞,表示文憑、結(jié)業(yè)證書.
