①作主語時(shí),可單獨(dú)使用,也可以與of連用,either,neither接謂語動(dòng)詞一般用單數(shù)形式,但這兩者在口語中作主語時(shí),其后的謂語動(dòng)詞也可以用復(fù)數(shù).例如：
Either(of them)is OK.(他們兩個(gè)中)任何一個(gè)都行.
②作賓語,可單獨(dú)使用,也可以與of連用,放在動(dòng)詞或介詞之后.例如：
I don't know which book is the better；I shall read both.我不知道這兩本書哪一本好,所以我兩本都讀.
I like neither.(兩個(gè))我一個(gè)也不喜歡.
③作定語,either和neither后面接單數(shù)名詞.例如：
On either side of the river there are a lot of trees.河的兩邊都有許多樹.
句中可作主語、賓語和定語.
Neither of the films is good.
兩部電影都不好.（沒有一部是好的）
Either of the films is good.
（作主語,謂語動(dòng)詞用單數(shù)）
兩部電影中有一部不錯(cuò).
He wrote to neither of them.
他沒給他們兩個(gè)任何一個(gè)人寫信.
He wrote to either of them.(作賓語)
他給他們中的一個(gè)人寫了信.
Neither teacher often answers the questions.
這兩個(gè)老師,沒有一個(gè)經(jīng)常解答問題.
Either teacher often answers the questions.
這兩個(gè)老師中有一個(gè)常常解答問題.
Both the teachers often answer the questions.（作定語）
