other,the other,others,another 都是不定代詞.
泛指: 單數(shù):another =an other 復(fù)數(shù):other (boys), ／others
特指：單數(shù)：the other復(fù)數(shù)：the other (boys),／ the others
功能：用作主語,賓語,定語
1．a(chǎn)nother 別的,另一個(gè),泛指眾多中一個(gè)．一般后面接單數(shù)名詞,前面不能加定冠詞
例1：I don't like this one.Show me another.我不喜歡這個(gè),給我看看另一個(gè)好嗎?(another 作賓語)
例2：This book is too difficult forme.Will you please give me another one(=another book)?
這本書對我而言太難了,可以給我另一本呢?（作定語）
2．the other 表示兩個(gè)中的一個(gè),常與one 連用:
one ... the other...
例：I have two pecils;one is red;the other is blue.
我有兩支鉛筆,一支是紅的,另一支是藍(lán)的．
3．other+名詞＝ others（別的）
例1：Some are listening to the radio,others are watching TV.
一些人在聽廣播,一些人在看電視．

4.the other+名詞=the others 譯為其余的,相當(dāng)于the rest
例：Some of the pencils are red.The others(=the other pencils)are green.有些鉛筆是紅的,其余的都是綠的．
