在表示命令、建議、要求（如 order,suggest,propose,require,demand,request,insist,command ）等一類動詞的名詞性從句中,往往使用虛擬語氣,由“ should+ 動詞原形”構(gòu)成,其中 should 可省略.
a.在賓語從句中的應(yīng)用.如：
I suggest that we （ should ） hold a meeting next week.
我建議我們下個星期開個會.
He insisted that he （ should ） be sent there.
他堅持要派到那兒去.
b.在主語從句中的應(yīng)用.如：
It is suggested that we （ should ） hold a meeting next week.
有人建議我們下周開個會.
It is necessary that he （ should ） come to our meeting tomorrow.
他有必要來參加我們明天的會議.
c.在同位語從句中的應(yīng)用.如：
My idea is that we （ should ） get more people to attend the conference.
我覺得我們應(yīng)該讓更多的人來參加這次會議.
I make a proposal that we （ should ） hold a meeting next week.
我建議下周開個會.
注意：如果 suggest,insist 不表示“建議”,“堅持要某人做某事”,而是意為“暗示；表明”,“堅持認(rèn)為”時,賓語從句用陳述語氣.試比較：
Your pale face suggests that you are ill.你蒼白的臉色表明你生病了.
I suggested that he should go there.我建議他去那兒.
I insisted that you were wrong.我堅持認(rèn)為你錯了.
I insisted that the old man should be sent to hospital.
我堅持要求把老人送到醫(yī)院去.
