Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The best way for governments to control energy conservation is to raise the prices of gasoline and electricity.
Control, the ability or powers to make someone or something do what you want, which always be used by authority, can’t make people really do the things what the government want. Despite of that some people argue that power can let the people under control, others hold the opposite idea and claim that power will never have a long control to people. in my point of view, the best way for government to conserve the gasoline and electricity can’t be to raise the price. My reasons are explored in detail as following.
The first and fore most reason that government shouldn’t use the tough way to control the energy. In early twentieth century, US government has a clause that banned the wine. That clause caused not only let people who love drinking to go to speakeasies or speaks, but also gave the chance for underworld organization bootlegged the wine to be millinery. There were hundreds of people dead of the underworld organization because the violence was their normal business tool. Until the people lost faith to the government, it abolished the clause. We can imagine that situation that the underworld organization will deal the electricity and gasoline.
Although the society will be mess if the government raises the price of gasoline and electricity, it isn’t the only explanation for government should not use this way to control the energy conservation. People may refuse to pay for the gasoline and electricity so that the electricity and gasoline may be used fro the people but can’t earn any money back which will make the loss of the electricity and gasoline growing more.
Admittedly, the prize can stop some people use electricity and gasoline, however, this way will lose huge amount of gasoline and electricity. In fact, there are really few of people will observe the clause.
To sum up, due to the above mentioned reasons, which sometimes correlate with each other to form and organic whole and thus become more persuasive than any single one of them, we can safely reach the conclusion that the government should not raise the price to control the electricity and gasoline because of the society and the lose of gasoline and electricity.
