Data on the growth in the national vehicle registration between the years 1970 and 1997 shows that the number of vehicles in Jordan has increased from about 20,000 to approximately 310,000 in that 27 year-period (JAPS,1997).This indicates that the number of vehicles nationwide has increased by more than fifteen folds,which constitutes an average annual increase of about 53%.Between the years 1997 and 2005,the national vehicle registration jumped from 310,000 to 575,000 (JEWS,2005) which represents an average annual increase of about 11%.These experienced percentages of annual increase are much higher than the reported percentages of annual increase of vehicle ownership in most of the European and Asian countries for the same period
