Third,the usual mistakes made by the rural students of Grade two in their compositions are so many grammar mistakes and misspelling of words,the best way to solve these problems is to do the exercises about sentence patterns.To begin with,teacher can put forward request of sentence-making to students by aiming at important knowledge from books,like the key words,sentence patterns and phrases.Not only does this can reinforce the important knowledge in textbook,but also it can foster students’ organizing competence of language.Furthermore,there is a kind of question type called “Sentence Pattern Transformation”,which makes students upset and painful.The reason why it is so troublesome to the rural students is that they can’t remember so many English words and they are unfamiliar with the sentence structure.However,“Sentence Pattern Transformation” exactly reflects flexible use of English words and application characteristics of all kinds of sentence patterns.So if the teacher assigns students to do this type of question,he or she should ensure them to “know what and know how”.If things go on like this,students will accumulate a large number of sentence patterns which are high in quality and then to use them into English writing successfully.Moreover,a sentence is composed of a quantity of components,English teachers should analyze sentence element for students in detail and encourage them to extend the short sentence to a long one,putting the noun,verb,adjective,conjunction and so on into a sentence correctly and gradually.And if it is okay the students can do this exercise from only one English word.For example,telling students to pay attention to the word “people”,then explain the way to extend it and by the way explain the usage of different part of speech—add the definite article in front of “people” to “the people”,then add the adjective between them like “the hardworking people”,moreover,add the verb behind “people” as “the hardworking people is working”,and add the preposition and noun behind verb at last—the hardworking people is working in the office.Finally,it is very useful and helpful for the students’ ideation of writing by doing a lot of sentence translation.As far as the author is concerned,teacher can choose the English or Chinese sentences which are close to those in the textbook with high use frequency.
