First,it is not easy to just put extra food in a box and mail it to a hungry person in another country.Food is heavy and sending it is expensive.Second,some people in rich countries think that hungry people will become lazy and do not work if other people send them food.A third reason people do not help the hungry is that they want to keep food and money for themselves.
Although it is hard to believe,in some countries food is exported to other countries at the same time that people are starving.Why is food exported from countries where people are hungry?Again,the answer is not easy.Countries export food because they need money to pay for imports.If a country has no exports,it cannot have many imports.
Additionally,hungry people have little money to buy food.Companies in the international food business cannot make any money if they give food to hungry people who have no money.Without money,they cannot pay their workers or have a successful business.Therefore they sell food to other countries.
Many nations face the problem of hunger,which has caused billions of deaths.There is enough food in the world to feed everyone,but it is not easy to get food to everyone who needs it.
