I’m in Shanghai at last.My parents and I flew here last night from Beijing.
We’ve had such anexhausting day!After we had eaten a huge breakfast at the hotel,we set out on foot down Nanjing Road,the main road in Shanghai.The weather was warmer than in Beijing.It was sunny and the sky was clear and blue.
We soon came to People’s Square,a marvellous recreation area.We walked around the beautiful fountain.There was a nice atmosphere.Some elderly people were doing ballroom dancing,and children were flying kites.Teenagers wereroller skating,and some men were practising sword fighting.After we had watched for a while,we went into Shanghai Museum.We spent a couple of hours there,looking at the displays.
Next we walked on down to the Bund,the old part of the city with lots of European style buildings.A Chinese nickname for the Bund is ‘the exhibition of world architecture’.It is a big commercial centre with lots of banks and businesses.
We walked along the waterfront and looked up at the Oriental Pearl TV Tower across the Huangpu River.I read that the designer’s idea came from a line in an old Chinese poem,‘It was like large and small pearls dropping on a plate of jade.’ The big financial and trade area of Pudong is behind the tower.Dad visited that area fifteen years ago.He was amazed at how much it had changed.
Then we turned away from the river,walked down some narrow streets,and reached the Chenghuang Miao area.There are lots of craft shops,with artists doing things like paper cutting.There is also a lake with a pavilion in the middle.We can go over a zigzag bridge to get to the pavilion and enjoy the nice view around.After that,we ate a tasty meal in an old restaurant nearby.Finally,we walked into Yu Garden.It was so beautiful!I loved the long dragons all along the tops of the walls.
By this time we were so tired that we took a taxi back to our hotel to rest our feet!I’ve drawn you a map so you can see where we went today,and I will enclose a few photos.Shanghai is great!I wish we could stay longer.

親愛的康妮
我終于到上海了,昨天晚上我的父母和我從北京飛到了這里.
我們這一天很累,在酒店我們吃了一頓豐盛的早餐之后,我們步行前往上海最繁華的路段——南京路.這里的天氣比北京暖和,天氣晴朗,晴空萬(wàn)里.
不久我們來(lái)到了讓人心曠神怡的人民廣場(chǎng),我們圍繞這噴泉步行,這里的空氣清新,一些老年人在這里跳交際舞,還有一些孩子在放風(fēng)箏,青少年在進(jìn)行輪滑,還有一些人在練劍.看了一會(huì)后,我們進(jìn)入了上海博物館,在那里我們待了幾個(gè)小時(shí)觀看各種展品.
之后我們步行去了外灘,這里是老城區(qū),有許多歐式建筑.外灘中國(guó)人俗稱“萬(wàn)國(guó)建筑展覽會(huì)”,這是一個(gè)商業(yè)中心,有許多銀行及商業(yè)建筑.
我們沿著外灘游覽,看著黃浦江對(duì)面的東方明珠.我體會(huì)了設(shè)計(jì)師從中國(guó)古詩(shī)中產(chǎn)生的靈感.這就是所謂的“大珠小珠落玉盤”,在塔的后面就是浦東最大的金融業(yè)和商業(yè)地區(qū).父親15年前到過(guò)這里,他對(duì)這一地區(qū)發(fā)生的巨大變化表示驚訝.
然后我們從江邊回頭,穿過(guò)了許多小巷,來(lái)到了城隍廟.這里有許多工藝品店,許多藝人進(jìn)行著諸如剪紙的藝術(shù).這里也有一個(gè)湖,湖中有個(gè)亭子,我們可以穿過(guò)曲折橋到達(dá)亭子觀賞周圍的景色,之后我們?cè)诟浇囊患依系昀锵硎芰嗣牢兜囊徊?最后我們到了豫園,它非常精美,我喜歡墻上蜿蜒曲折的長(zhǎng)龍.
到了這個(gè)時(shí)候我們都累了,于是打的回到了酒店休息.我為你畫了一副地圖,以便于你知道我們今天去了哪里,我還會(huì)附上一些照片.上海是個(gè)好地方,我希望我們可以長(zhǎng)時(shí)間呆在這里.
