詞變?yōu)閺?fù)數(shù)形式的規(guī)則如下:
1．一般情況是在單數(shù)名詞后加“-s”,如:
pen→pens,sister→sisters.
2．以s,sh,ch,x等結(jié)尾的單詞,變復(fù)數(shù)形式需加“-es”,如：
bus→buses,dish→dishes,watch→watches,box→boxes.
3．以f,fe結(jié)尾的名詞,變復(fù)數(shù)形式需將f,fe變?yōu)関es,如：
knife→knives,leaf→leaves.
4．以o結(jié)尾的詞多數(shù)都加-es,如:
hero→heroes,potato→potatoes,echo→echoes,tomato→tomatoes.
少數(shù)詞加-s,如:
zoo→zoos,radio→radios,photo→photos,piano→pianos,kilo→kilos,studio→studios.
5．以輔音字母+y結(jié)尾的名詞,變復(fù)數(shù)形式需先將y變?yōu)閕,然后再加“-es”,如：
story→stories,factory→factories,family→families.
6．單復(fù)數(shù)同形的名詞,如：
sheep→sheep,deer→deer,Chinese→Chinese.
7．少數(shù)名詞的復(fù)數(shù)形式是不規(guī)則的,如：
man→men,woman→women,child→children,foot→feet,ox→oxen,mouse→mice,tooth→teeth,goose→geese.
