2010年5月20日凌晨（英國當(dāng)?shù)貢r間2010年5月19日晚）,2012倫敦奧林匹克運動會組織委員會公布了倫敦夏季奧運會吉祥物文洛克（Wenlock),它是以富有激情的薩羅普羊為原型的,這種羊生活在奧林匹克歷史上的一個名為馬齊文洛克的施羅普希爾村的中心小鎮(zhèn).
　　2012年倫敦奧運會,即2012年夏季奧林匹克運動會,正式名稱為第三十屆夏季奧林匹克運動會.2005年7月6日,國際奧委會在新加坡舉行的第117次國際奧委會會議上宣布,由英國倫敦主辦此次奧運會,這是倫敦第3次主辦夏季奧運會.在倫敦當(dāng)?shù)貢r間2011年7月27日晚上7點,倫敦奧運會開始倒計時一周年活動.2012年4月18日,在倫敦奧運會開幕倒計時100天時,倫敦奧組委公布口號為“Inspire a generation”,翻譯中文為“激勵一代人.”
　　會徽以數(shù)字“2012”為主體,包含了奧林匹克五環(huán)及英文單詞倫敦（London）.這一設(shè)計清晰地傳達出倫敦的聲音――“倫敦2012年奧運會將是所有人的奧運會、所有人的2012.”會徽顏色一共有四種,分別是粉色、橙色、藍色和綠色,可根據(jù)不同場合的需要使用不同顏色的會徽.這一設(shè)計是百年奧運史上第一次由同一年舉辦的奧運會和殘奧會“共享”同一個會徽.
