That day I learned two things:
First,a little kindness and confidence in people can make a great difference to them.
And,second,strength and courage aren’t always measured in medals and victories.They are measured in the struggles we overcome.The strongest people are not always the people who win ,but the people who don’t give up when they lose.
I dream only that someday--perhaps as a senior—I will be able to win a race with a cheer as big as the one I got when I lost that race as a freshman.

Learning is a very personal matter.There isn’t one study skill or learning strategy that works for every person in every situation.Therefore,you must learn what you know,what you don’t know ,and what to do about it.Don’t always wait for others to tell you what to learn or how to do it.

Because so many English words sound similar,misunderstandings among English-speaking people are not uncommon.Not all misunderstandings result in highways being closed or passengers flying to the wrong continent.Most misunderstandings are much less serious.Every day people speaking English ask one another questions like these:“Did you say seventy or seventeen?”“Did you say that you can come or that you can’t?” Similar-sounding words can be especially confusing for people who speak English as a second language.
