I was told by the doctor that Johnsy had caught pneumonia.I was depressed about the news.I later told Berhman,the painter about the condition of Johnsy.After hearing the sad news,Berhman decided to encourage Johnsy not to give up on life.He then painted a leaf on the tree that was outside the sick room of Johnsy.
Everyday,Johnsy peeked outside the room and saw the leaf.She said that she will die on the day when the leaf whithers.However,everyday when she looked out of the window,the leaf was there.That triggered Johnsy to live on and recovered.I was pleased that Johnsy had overcame her pnuemonia and was also happy to hear that Berhman's painting of the leaf had made him famous.
(I hope I tell the story right,I had not read about the story but I heard about it in 職來(lái)職往,which a lady participant was shown a pig with wings and asked her to tell a story on it.The participant was creative enough to tell a bullshit story.I think she did well.However,one of the hiring company director wanted to show off,he related the pig with wings to the story of the last leaf.)
