I overheard a phone conversation when a young man called Lee was talking over his cell phone to his friend complaining how his neighbor Wu was playing Majorn (麻將) all night last night.The noise from the neighbor cause him to lose sleep.
(Over the door)
Neighbor Wu:Who is it?
Man Lee:It's me,Lee.Can I talk to you for a moment?
Neighbor Wu:I am busy now.Can you come back later?
Man Lee:Do you know what time it is?I want you to open the door now and I want to talk to you.
Neighbor Wu:(The door is opened.) Hi,Lee.What do you want?I am busy now so talk fast.
Man Lee:Hi,Wu,It's 2 o'clock in the morning and I can't sleep because of your playing Majorn all night.Is there a way that you can finish the play in thirty minutes and let me go back to sleep?
Neighbor Wu:I am sorry to hear that you can't sleep.But we can't stop the game now.We have just started.
Man Lee:You are causing me to lose sleep.I have a very important English test tomorrow and I need a good night sleep for that test.
Neighbor Wu:Well,that is your business and I don't think we are loud.It's not the first time we play Majorn here and I haven't heard you complaining about that.In fact,you joined us before.Do you want to play Majorn with us now?Maybe it's the stress from the English test that make you lose sleep?
Man Lee:Thanks for your invitation but I don't think so.I really need this sleep.
(Man shouting from the room calling Wu to go back to play Majorn...)
Neighbor Wu:I am sorry.My friend is calling me,you heard him.I have to go now.
Man Lee:Wait,I am not done yet.Could you please close the window to minimize the noise?
Neighbor Wu:It's very hot now.I don't think I can close the window.Even I want to,my friends would think I am crazy!
Man Lee:I have to call the police and complain about the noise you make,if you don't close your window.
Neighbor Wu:Are you serious?Sure,go ahead.Call the police.I am sure they will listen to your complain.(Wu was laughing out loue!)
Man Lee:Wu,could you please help me this time?I am very tired and need this sleep.Why don't we do this?I will buy you a very good dinner tomorrow if you can stop the game in 30 minutes.Just for you.Not you and your girl friend.Deal?
Neighbor Wu:Hmm,a good dinner?My choice of the restaurant and my choice of the meal?
Man Lee:Yes!
Neighbor Wu:Let me see.Hmm,How about the new restaurant on the corner of Main street and Washington Ave?I heave they serve very authenatic American food there.I always want to eat there but you know me,my pocket is not as deep as yours...
Man Lee:Deal.If that's the restaurant you pick,we can go there tomorrow night at 6 pm.But you got to stop playing Majorn within 10 minutes,not 30 minutes,because it's an expensive restaurant.I am willing to treat you a decent dinner up to $200.And just for this time,there won't be another treat next time!
Neighbor Wu:You got it!My friend.I will wrap up our current Majorn play.You know,I do this for you,my friend.
