水是覺醒的冰
這句話真的很有意思.第一,水和冰是同一物質(zhì)的在不同環(huán)境條件下的不同形態(tài);第二,"覺醒的"這一詞在句中是一個形容詞,表示著一種狀態(tài).細(xì)細(xì)品味,個中滋味每人必有不同.
這種很有內(nèi)含思想的語句對應(yīng)成另外一種語言,真的會讓人苦煞腦筋.我選disenchant這一詞,是因其含義為To free from illusion or false belief, undeceive.有使覺醒,不再著迷之意.
每每完成一句譯文,總要想一想如果我是母語者,不懂得什么第二第三外語,我是如果看待這樣的語句.如果我們用大學(xué)時常用的那種paraphrase的方法理解一下上面的一句,Water is the disenchanted ice, 我的理解是:Water is the another form of ice, which is free from the illusion under the conditions of below zero. Well, I can also see the process of thawing from the ice to water and harmony(怎么會想到這個詞了,呵呵,現(xiàn)在可全社會都在講它啊)of these two. Things go, clear water comes into being at the end, which has suffered a frozen state and knows better about the real purposes of life.
