地球是人類的共同家園,但人類的活動卻對地球造成了嚴重的破壞.生物賴以生存的森林、湖泊、濕地等正以驚人的速度消失；煤炭、石油、天然氣等不可再生能源因過度開采而面臨枯竭；能源燃燒排放的大量溫室氣體導致全球氣候變暖,由此引發(fā)的極地冰蓋融化、海平面上升等問題威脅到人類的生存發(fā)展. 舉辦“世界地球日”活動的宗旨是喚起人類愛護地球、保護家園的意識,促進資源開發(fā)與環(huán)境保護的協(xié)調(diào)發(fā)展.中國從20世紀90年代起,每年4月22日都舉辦世界地球日活動,并根據(jù)當年的情況確定活動主題.

據(jù)悉,在地球日,各地國土資源科普基地將開展“三個一”活動,即一場專題展覽,一場科普報告會,一個青少年互動活動.中國地質(zhì)博物館、李四光紀念館、部級重點實驗室將實施開放日,組織專家開展資源科普報告、資源科普創(chuàng)作以及科研成果展示活動.
