The signal from an FM transmitter is broadcast in a manner that envelopes the listening area with relatively constant signal strength.It is because of this that FM radio has the advantage of being received in areas where an AM signal would not be received.The circuitry in an FM radio uses the antenna usually built into the radio to catch signals as they present themselves in the area of the radio.The signal is taken into the radio and converted into a voltage the FM circuitry converts into sound.In particular,the circuitry detects the carrier wave and the modulated signal and converts that modulated signal into sound while steering the signal to the right place on the dial using the carrier wave.
