turn用作名詞時(shí)可以和不少介詞構(gòu)成介詞短語(yǔ),使用時(shí)須注意各短語(yǔ)意義上的細(xì)微差別.
l. at every turn每次,總是,到處,主要表示事情發(fā)生的頻率.例如：
①Because of his drinking,the man was refused a job at every torn．
由于酗酒,那個(gè)人每次找工作都遭到拒絕.
②Life holds new adventures al every torn．
生活中處處有新的風(fēng)險(xiǎn).
2．by turn交替地,輪流地,一會(huì)兒……一會(huì)兒,其含義為：有規(guī)律地輪換,根據(jù)一個(gè)重復(fù)性的計(jì)劃而一個(gè)接一個(gè)或一個(gè)替換另一個(gè).通常位于句末．turn為復(fù)數(shù).例如：
①His condition is critical；we have to look after him by toms．
他的病情極為嚴(yán)重,我們得輪流看護(hù)他.
②When John had a fever,he felt cold and hot by turns．
約翰發(fā)燒時(shí),他一會(huì)兒發(fā)冷,一會(huì)兒發(fā)熱.
3．in one's turn輪到某人(做事).例如：
They,in their torn,rejected that．
輪到他們時(shí),他們也拒絕了.
4．in turn依次地,一次一個(gè)地,輪流地,其含義為：按照一個(gè)固定的順序依次進(jìn)行.in turn在句中位置較靈活,只有在表示“輪流”時(shí)才可和 by turns換用,但它表示的時(shí)間范圍要大些.in turn還可表示“回報(bào)”.例如：
①They rowed in turn／by toms．
他們輪流劃船.
②The children went on the bus in torn．
孩子們依次上了公共汽車.
③Life becomes possible only when food is converted into energy,which in turn is used to seek more food to grow,to reproduce and to survive．

5．on the turn 正在轉(zhuǎn)變中,(牛奶)在變酸.例如：
①At last the condition of the patient seems to be on the turn．
病人的情況看來(lái)終于有了轉(zhuǎn)機(jī).
②This cream is on the turn．
這些奶油變酸了.
6．out of turn不按順序,加塞兒,此義為 in turn(依次地)的反義語(yǔ).Out of turn 還可表示“不合時(shí)宜”.例如：
①Bill tried to register out of turn and was sent away．
比爾注冊(cè)時(shí)想加塞兒,結(jié)果被趕了出來(lái).
②I hope I haven't spoken out of turn．I didn't know it was supposed to be secret．
