下面是些好例子：
● A. “More than＋名詞”表示“多于……”、“非但……尤其是”如：
1)Modern science is more than a large amount of information.
2)Jason is more than a lecturer; he is a writer, too.

● B. “More than＋數(shù)詞”含“以上”或“不止”之意,如：
3) I have known David for more than 20 years.
4)Let's carry out the test with more than the sample copy.

● C. “More than＋形容詞”等于“很”或“非?！钡囊馑?如：

no more than /not more than
在數(shù)量上進(jìn)行比較時(shí),no more than = only, 意為“僅僅,只有”；not more than=at most, 意為“至少,不超過”.例如：
There are no more than ten people in the room. 房間里只有十個(gè)人.
I have not more than 20 books.我最多有20本書.
在程度上進(jìn)行比較時(shí),no more than有“兩者都不”之意,表示說話者主觀上嫌其少（差、不足、不好）等；not more than含有“不及、不多于”之意.只反映實(shí)際情況,無(wú)任何語(yǔ)氣.
This book is no more interesting than that one.這本書并不比那本書有趣.
This story is not more interesting than that one.這個(gè)故事不如那個(gè)故事有趣.

6. more than 結(jié)構(gòu)可以由 far,much,a little,slightly,hardly,nothing,no 等詞修飾,一般置于 more than 結(jié)構(gòu)前.例如：
(1) This little man was hardly more than one meter fifty tall.
這個(gè)小個(gè)子男人身高僅1.5米.
(2) She could have thought of nothing more likely to please her brother than this praise of Maggie.
