If I am a parent,I will.
First of all,I will trust my children,let them know I love them,let them know that I care about them very much,let them feel warm and safety.
Secondly,I will make conversations with children often.Acturally,
there's no genaration gap between parents and children,if you always exchange your opion with your children.
Third,if my childern want to keep his or her own secrets,want to do something and don't want to tell me(I gess every children want to do that),if that thing doesn't make a serious mistake(like break the law),I will allow them to do even if they will fail--at least it's a good experience for them.
Finaly,sometimes being like a kid,have a childlike,imagine what if you are a child,then you will understand your children.
It's not difficult,isn't that?
