It has been the Confucian philosophy to accommodate divergent views,the evolving trend ofglobalization is a distinct characteristic of our time,there has been a gradual increase of exchange of visits, trade and economic cooperation as well as cultural and sports exchanges between China and America,take the view of “harmony but not sameness”to cultural exchanges with other countries,and update the traditional culture based on recognize and respect the differences between different cultures,that is make the foreign things serve China and weed through the old to bring forth the new,make our culture to keep pace with time.
First of all,etiquette is the prerequisite and guarantee to make social exchange harmonious. The interpersonal communication is more complexed in modern society, however, there is no change about the etiquette, which is the fundamental factor maintain harmonious relations between human beings. Harmonious relations is based on some certain regulation of conduct andalso need some certain social etiquette, especially in cross-cultural communication.
On the other hand, differences in etiquette from different cultural connotations, and it will develop with the characteristics of local culture more or less, so we must not only admit the existence of differences, but also to understand and respect the these differences in cross-cultural communication. In a correct attitude toward cultural differences can lead to success in cross-cultural communication, only understand and respect the different cultures can avoid cultural conflict and make the equal exchanges come true, that is a necessary condition for successful cooperation. Study and comparative the different cultures in different manners consciously can enhance the sensitivity to cultural differences and adapt to his culture, which can help us to predict other's communicative behavior, thus we can make a good psychological preparation and improve communication efficiency.
